Our Needs
The MS Care Centre provides the best possible care to residents and we have invested greatly in this area over the last number of years. Our attention now needs to turn to the physical building and our ability to deliver and continue developing the best possible service to people with MS.
We have carried out a full review of the Centre, its facilities, physical structure, services and future direction. Our review also included feedback from residents on how we could improve their stay with us. The result is a comprehensive plan of renewal and renovation that will help us to enhance the lives of thousands of people with MS. We now urgently need to fund this plan.
Our Building Needs
- Replacement of our roof following substantial leakage and weather damage
- Replacement of windows due to rotting wood in old section of building
- Replacement of fascia boards.
- Upgrade of boiler room and heating system
Our Facilities Needs
- Install a sluice room to comply with infection control regulations
- Kitchen; new floor and upgrade of equipment
- Renovation of our 12 bedrooms and bathrooms to improve accessibility and comfort
- Replacement of hoists
- Upgrade of or emergency alarm system to ensure the maximum environmental safety of residents
- Upgrade the Care Centre lift to comply with current health and safety regulation
- Upgrade of laundry room/storage areas
- Refurbishment of sitting and dining rooms
- Development of resident work area in the garden to include accessible raised herb and flower beds
Our Activities Needs
- Development of our occupational therapy suite to allow residents to see and use aids and appliances
- Upgrade and replacement of equipment in the physiotherapy and occupational therapy suite.
- New computers for cybercafé
- Replace mini bus
- Increase available therapy which allows additional intensive rehabilitation work with residents,
including supporting MS Nurse salaries and therapy service fees - the implementation of new HIQA requirements including increased regular training for all staff areas
